New: Ad Placement Inspect

The What:

The Ad Placement Inspect tab, is a new addition to Podscribe’s Discovery & Research platform.

This feature provides a comprehensive episode-by-episode timeline view, detailing the specifics of each ad placement within episodes. The goal of this feature is to provide transparency into the ways shows place ads to give buyers better insights into ad placement before buying as well as provide sellers with placement inspiration and best practices. With this new tab, users can:

  • Gain insights into:

    • Location of ads within episodes

    • The advertisers behind the ads

    • The objective of the ad: Brand Awareness or Direct Response

    • The length of the ad

    • The style of the ad read: Host Read or Produced

  • For each episode in the timeline view, users can now see:

    • The percentage of ad load (indicating what portion of the episode's content consists of ads)

    • The percentage of host-read ads vs producer-read

    • The percentage of direct response advertisers vs brand awareness

  • Understand averages and trends across episodes the show with metrics such as:

    • Average length of ads

    • Average type of advertiser

    • Average type of ad read

    • Average number of ads in each episode, broken down by placement (pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll)

Why is it important?

Ad Placement Inspect offers transparency and insights into the ad placement strategies of podcast shows, enabling better decision-making for potential advertisers and fostering a deeper understanding of ad placement strategies for all stakeholders.

Use Cases:

  1. For Buyers:

    • Informed Decision Making: Before committing to an ad buy, brands can now get a holistic view of a show's ad placement strategy. This includes understanding the typical ad placement style, the number of ads grouped together, the types of ads featured in episodes, and more.

    • Strategic Planning: Equipped with this knowledge, brands can make more informed decisions about the types of ad buys they wish to pursue, even before initiating contact with the show.

    • Enhanced Proposals / Packages: By understanding the nuances of ad placements in different shows, buyers and sellers can craft more compelling proposals for their clients.

  2. For Sellers:

    • Inspiration & Best Practices: By observing how other shows and publishers place their ads, networks can gather inspiration and understand industry best practices.

    • Strategic Rate Negotiation: Armed with insights from the Ad Placement tab, publishers can negotiate rates more effectively.

    • Tailored Ad Packages: Understanding the preferences and trends in ad placements allows publishers to design ad packages that are more appealing and better suited for advertisers.

Where you can find it?

This feature is seamlessly integrated into the Discovery and Research section of Podscribe’s platform. Simply navigate to any show's profile and click on the "Ad Placement" tab to access this wealth of information.

Who has access?

Any Research and Discovery client of Podscribes has access to this new feature.

Limitations

At the initial phase, Podscribe has focused on providing averages for these metrics. We acknowledge the importance of understanding the full spectrum of data, including maxes, mins, medians, etc. As we continue to refine and enhance this tool, our future iterations will integrate these additional metrics. This will empower buyers and sellers to understand metrics like the maximum ad load for an episode in a particular show, among other insights.
